Great to see our engineers celebrating two years of the FWD community at the Browne Jacobson office this week

Futurebuild & UK Construction Week London, DCL engineers attended event, showing the full scale, complexity and ambition of an industry facing unprecedented change.

Last week, our Engineers Jemimah Griffin and Esme Wallace attended the event for the exciting new partnership between Futurebuild and UK Construction Week London.

Bringing the two leading industry events together at Excel London from 12–14 May 2026, the collaboration created the UK’s largest built environment event, uniting 25,000+ professionals, 600+ exhibitors and 700+ speakers under one roof.

It was great to see the exhibitors and hear more about the vision behind the partnership and the opportunities it will create for collaboration, innovation and progress across the construction and built environment sectors.

Construction Cup

DCL Consulting Engineers competed at Construction Cup for structural engineers and construction industry, at AFC Wimbledon, teamwork, networking and building construction relations

Last Wednesday, the DCL Consulting Engineers team had the opportunity to take part in the Construction Cup at AFC Wimbledon’s stadium - a fantastic day of football and networking.

Competing against a number of strong industry teams, we played four closely contested matches throughout the day. While the results didn’t quite go our way, every game was competitive, enjoyable, and played in great spirit.

More importantly, the event was a brilliant opportunity to connect with other professionals across the construction industry, strengthen existing relationships, and meet new faces in a relaxed and social environment.

The day highlighted values that are just as important off the pitch as they are in the workplace - teamwork, resilience, communication, and supporting one another under pressure.

A big thank you to the organisers, Black & White Engineering, and everyone involved for putting together such a well-run event. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Drainage shouldn't just be a hidden pipe in the ground.

This month, our engineering team attended the Building with Nature and SuDS seminar hosted by FORMA. Learning from Cristina Refolo and Taffeta Gray (Refolo Landscape Architects) reinforced a key philosophy: when nature is at the heart of design, technical requirements become vibrant public spaces.

By integrating nature-based SuDS strategies, we're helping our clients build projects that are as sustainable as they are functional.

Thanks to Cristina for the masterclass—we’re ready to put these insights into practice!

Technical skills are vital, but clear communication is what really keeps a project moving.

Yesterday, our team at DCL Consulting Engineers Ltd joined the GeN+1 Masterclass at Arup to master the art of giving feedback confidently.

Rather than a standard lecture, the session used live, interactive scenarios to tackle the real-world communication challenges we face in the data centre sector. It was a brilliant, high-energy way for our engineers to sharpen their skills and connect with other emerging talent across the industry.

Our team are heading back to work today with practical tools to help them communicate more effectively and support each other's growth.

A big thanks to the GeN+1 team for such a practical and engaging evening!
