19-20 Poland Street is a former six-storey office building in London’s Soho. The Elegant 1950s building is being extensively redeveloped into luxury apartments and will retain the ground floor restaurant. DCL are providing extensive geotechnical and structural engineering services to extend the building outwards and add a storey on top.
We will add to the existing 1950s steel frame to improve the stability of the structure and provide support for the extension work. The entire structure will be reshaped from within while retaining the original stone façade.
Throughout the work the popular ground floor restaurant Obika remained open to the public. Health and safety requirements have been carefully considered at every stage to protect the public and contractors, and to cause minimal disturbance to the restaurant staff and patrons.
DCL is a multi-disciplinary, forward thinking engineering practice. Founded by individuals with a wide degree of engineering expertise gained over more than thirty years, working in the City of London and the regions. We have a unique understanding of the practical and aesthetic challenges faced by clients working on historic and modern properties in these areas.
