Work Experience Students

We’ve really enjoyed welcoming students from Study Mind to DCL Consulting Engineers across four work experience days recently!

The students had the opportunity to learn more about the world of structural engineering, gaining an insight into how structures work and putting some of those principles into practice using Mola Structural Kits.

A little friendly competition put their engineering skills to the test, with some impressive results:
Tallest Tower: 104.5cm
Sturdiest Bridge: Held 5 books – a combined thickness of 12cm🏆

It was great to see the students experimenting with different ideas, problem-solving and discovering first-hand how structural design, stability and load paths work.

A big thank you to Study Mind and to all the students who joined us. We hope the experience provided a useful and enjoyable introduction to a career in structural engineering!

Nature-Led Design: February Highlights

Drainage shouldn't just be a hidden pipe in the ground. This month, our engineering team attended the Building with Nature and SuDS seminar hosted by FORMA. Learning from Cristina Refolo and Taffeta Gray (Refolo Landscape Architects) reinforced a key philosophy: when nature is at the heart of design, technical requirements become vibrant public spaces. By integrating nature-based SuDS strategies, we're helping our clients build projects that are as sustainable as they are functional. Thanks to Cristina for the masterclass—we’re ready to put these insights into practice!
